Jack Manning from Flookburgh has been associated with fishing almost all his life. His unique experience in Morecambe Bay has been chronicled in a book by Jack entitled 'It was better than working'. The book and further information is available from Jack's website at http://jackmanning.co.uk/index.html
Notes: Morecambe Bay is a vast expanse of tidal sands in the north west of England, to the south of the Lake District and west of the Lancashire coast. It is the largest expanse of inter-tidal mudflats and sand in the United Kingdom and an internationally important wintering site for many 1000s of birds.
Morecambe Bay is also known for the tragic disaster on 5th Feb 2004 when at least 21 illegal Chinese cockle pickers were drowned by the fast-rising tide.
